Food For Thought

After opening its’ doors for the first time last September the Food For Thought school food pantry at Lincoln Elementary School has helped to provide food for hundreds of families in the Yankton School District. Lincoln Elementary School Principal Paul Struck says because it operates in the evening the school food pantry is able to help families who cannot access the Yankton County Contact Center during the day.

The school food pantry is sponsored by Feeding America and Struck says they are able to acquire large amounts of food for the program either at low-cost or through donations.

Struck says the Food For Thought school food pantry will continue to operate through this May when organizers will evaluate whether or not to continue the program.
