KYNT Local Sports 4-11-17

The College of Saint Mary used strong pitching to sweep a softball doubleheader over Mount Marty in Omaha Monday by scores of 9-1 and 2-0.  The Lancers are now 3 and 9 in the G-PAC and 9 and 16 for the season heading into a twin bill at home against Midland on Thursday.

U-S-D senior Brenna Lervick placed second out of 63 golfers at the Kansas City Women’s Golf Shootout.  Lervick had an 11-over-par total of 227, while S-D-S-U golfer Megan Mingo of Yankton tied for 17th place.  Northern Illinois won the ten-team tournament with the Jacks in third place and the Coyotes taking fifth.

Chuck Turner of Yankton bowled a perfect 300 game in last week’s Classic League at the Yankton Bowl, and Ryan Barta topped the bowlers with an 811 series.

The first Yankton High School home track and field meet will be held this afternoon starting at 4:00.  The Bucks and Gazelles will host Brandon Valley and Mitchell at Williams Field, and we’ll have reports during the meet on 1450, KYNT.
