The 86th annual South Dakota Boys Tennis State tournament gets underway this morning at three locations in Sioux Falls.  The Yankton Bucks will have seven individuals competing in this year’s meet.  Sophomore Michael Frick earned a seventh seed at number-three singles, while Cole Sawatzke and Gage Becker each are seeded eighth in their flights.  Sioux Falls Lincoln is the three-time defending state champion.

The Yankton Gazelles golf squad by competing in the Brookings Invitational today.  The Gazelles have placed third in their last three invitational meets.

The Mount Marty College Golf Classic was postponed yesterday because of the stormy weather conditions.  The tournament will be held next Wednesday, May 24th at Hillcrest Country Club with a 1:00 shotgun start.  There are still a few openings for teams in the gathering to raise money for the Mount Marty College scholarship program.

The South Dakota State men’s golf season ended yesterday as the Jacks placed 13th in the Stanford Regional.  Senior Grant Smith led the Jacks with a 71 on Wednesday, and he tied for 48th place in the Regional with a 54-hole total of 218.

Wayne State College senior Michaela Dendinger was named the Northern Sun Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Year.  Dendinger graduated from Hartington Public High School, and she took first place in the shot put, discus and hammer throw at the conference meet earlier this month.

The South Central Amateur Baseball League schedule continues tonight.  Yankton will host Tabor, Lesterville plays at Irene, and Crofton visits Menno this evening.
