Malcolm X at AME

Yankton’s Events at the AME Series will present tomorrow An Afternoon on Malcolm X with Walter Brooks, the administrative director at the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation and Visitor’s Center in Omaha.

Organizer Mike Shumacher says the foundation works to further Malcolm X’s leadership and contributions toward social justice and to raise public awareness about the life of this slain civil rights leader.

Due to his extreme views Malcolm X was a controversial figure in the civil rights movement in the early 1960’s and Shumacher says later in his life he reevaluated and changed his positions on a number of issues.

An Afternoon on Malcolm X with Walter Brooks is set for tomorrow at 2 PM at Yankton’s AME Church located at 508 Cedar Street.
