Gavins Point Dam Releases

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced that flows from Gavins Point Dam have been reduced this week.

Operations Manager at Gavins Point Dam Dave Becker says flows were reduced to twenty six thousand cubic feet per second due to recent heavy rains in downstream areas.

Becker says with more water in the reservoir system this year the downstream navigation season may last a little longer than in other years.

Becker says higher than normal releases may continue later into the winter to help reduce the reservoirs to winter levels.
