The South Dakota High School All-State Soccer teams were announced today and Yankton Bucks senior Cooper Kuchta was named First Team All-State in Class Double-A. Bucks senior Jack Wolfgram was selected Second Team All-State, while sophomore Peyton Wolfgram was named Second Team All-State for girls soccer.
In Class A soccer, Madison Martinez of Vermillion was named All-State for girls and Brennan Haggerty from Freeman Academy was selected a boys All-Stater.
In the final regular season cross-country meet, Yankton senior Maddie McClure finished second in the girls race with Madisyn Bietz in third. In the boys meet, Zach Fedde led the Bucks with a ninth place. Yankton will compete in the South Dakota cross-country championships next Saturday in Rapid City.
The Yankton Cheer & Dance teams will also prepare for the state meet next Saturday in Rapid City. Last night in Huron, the Gazelles took fifth place in the Dance competition and eighth among the Cheer team in the E-S-D Conference.
Harrisburg edged Yankton 20-14 Thursday in freshmen football. Corbin Sohler led the Bucks with a combined 136 yards rushing and receiving and two touchdowns.
Yankton is 2 and 5 on the varsity football season and the Bucks play at a 5 and 2 Brandon Valley squad that is rated fourth among 11-Triple-A teams. Our broadcast begins at 6:05 p-m with the Y-H-S Nation show on AM 1450, KYNT.
In high school football tonight, Bon Homme travels to Platte-Geddes, Baltic plays at Irene-Wakonda and Gayville-Volin will host Corsica-Stickney. Battle Creek has a contest at Crofton, Hartington-Newcastle will host Niobrara-Verdigre, Hartington Cedar Catholic visits Stanton and Bloomfield will entertain Osmond.
The Yankton Gazelles have a key volleyball match at home tonight. Yankton has a 5 and 9 season and stands 14th in the playoff points race as they host 12th-seed Pierre which is 6 and 11 overall.
