The Mount Marty College women’s basketball team won a pair of close games at this weekend’s NAIA Classic at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls.  The Lancers are now unbeaten in three games after a 77-69 win over Dakota State and a 79-68 victory against Presentation.  Mount Marty sophomore Ali Kuca of Wagner had a total of 16 three-point baskets and scored 49 points over the weekend.

In the men’s NAIA Showcase, the Lancers lost two second-half leads and dropped a 71-64 game to Dakota State and a 70-69 heartbreaker against Presentation when the Saints hit a free throw with two-tenths of a second to play.  Senior point guard Marcus Mathieu had a total of 41 points for Mount Marty this weekend.

The Mount Marty College cross-country teams both took tenth place in the G-PAC meet Saturday hosted by Dordt College.  Mikayla Prouty led the Lancer women with a 53rd place finish, while Lukas Blankman took 51st to pace the men’s team.

South Dakota State will move up in the national rankings after the Jacks football team upset second-ranked North Dakota State 33-21 on Saturday.  SDSU got 329 yards and two touchdowns passing from Taryn Christion, while the Jacks defense caused five Bison turnovers in the victory.

Northern Iowa surprised sixth-ranked South Dakota 34-29 on Saturday.  In the loss, Chris Streveler threw for a total of 402 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions as the Coyotes fell to a 7 and 2 record on the season.

Oral Roberts kept first place in the Summit League volleyball standings after a 3-1 win over the University of South Dakota on Sunday.  Senior Brittany Jessen recorded 32 assists for the Coyotes and now is the program’s all-time leader in that category.  USD now has a volleyball match Tuesday at South Dakota State.
