The Mount Marty men’s basketball team suffered its second straight one-point loss, dropping a 71-70 decision against Bethany College of Kansas last night at the Cimpl Arena.  Senior Marcus Mathieu led the Lancers with 28 points and senior Drew Cheskie added 16 points and 9 rebounds.

There will be a Mount Marty basketball doubleheader at the Cimpl Arena today, as the Lancer men host Friends University of Kansas at 2:00 followed by the undefeated Lancer women’s team against Nebraska Wesleyan at 4:00.  Our broadcast of Mount Marty basketball starts at 1:35 p-m on AM 1450, KYNT.

Iowa State rallied in the fourth quarter to edge USD in women’s basketball by an 81-76 score Friday afternoon.  The Coyotes have their first women’s home game next Tuesday, hosting Creighton University.  The USD men’s basketball team has their season opener tonight at 6:00 in Vermillion against Mayville State.

USD finished the regular volleyball season schedule with a 3-2 loss against Denver last night in Vermillion.  The Coyotes finished up with a 16 and 10 overall record and 10 and 4 in the Summit League, which earned them the third seed in the League post-season tournament starting next Friday in Denver.

The USD football team is seeded ninth in the FCS Committee rankings and the Coyotes travel to Fargo and face fourth-place North Dakota State today at 2:30.  The South Dakota State football team is seeded seventh, and the Jacks will host 17th-ranked Illinois State at 2:00 today in Brookings.

In the DakotaDome on Friday, Pierre rallied from two touchdowns behind to edge Harrisburg 24-21 in the Class 11-Double-A championship.  Sioux Falls Christian picked up their first 11-B title with a 27-12 win over Bridgewater-Emery-Ethan.  Today in the Dome, unbeaten Madison and Dakota Valley meet for the Class 11-A title and tonight Washington faces Roosevelt for the 11-Triple-A championship.

The Hartington Cedar Catholic volleyball team topped Stanton 3-1 yesterday in the Class C-2 semifinals in Lincoln.  The Trojans are unbeaten in 34 matches, and Cedar Catholic will take on Superior at 1:00 this afternoon for the state title.
