Four Mount Marty College soccer players earned G-PAC All-Conference Honorable Mention this fall.  For the Lancer women, midfielder Shae Provencher and keeper Perla Consuelo Michel earned Honorable Mention and defender Thomas Bartkus and forward Melvin Gabel received Honorable Mention for the Lancer men.

The USD men’s basketball team scored 54 points in the second half and won at Bowling Green 88-79 last night.  Matt Mooney led the Coyotes with 26 points and 7 assists.  USD is unbeaten in two games with a contest at TCU on Wednesday.

USD fell to 15th in this week’s F-C-S Coaches Poll, and the Coyotes football team will host fifth-ranked South Dakota State on Saturday at 2:00 in the Dakotadome.

SDSU place-kicker Chase Vinatieri was named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after booting two field goals including the game winner for the Jacks in overtime on Saturday.

South Dakota State guard Macy Miller of Mitchell was named the College Basketball Mid-Major Player of the Week and the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.  In a pair of victories by the Jackrabbits, Miller averaged 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game.

Morningside finished off an unbeaten football season with a 35-0 shutout win over Concordia on Saturday.  The third-ranked Mustangs won the GPAC title and will now prepare to host 16th-rated Sterling, Kansas on Saturday at noon.

The University of Sioux Falls ended the regular season with a 9 and 2 record after a four-point loss to Minnesota State on Saturday.  The Cougars got the sixth-seed in the region and will play at Midwestern State Texas in the first round of the playoffs Saturday at 1 p-m.

The South Dakota Cross-Country Coaches Association has announced their Area Coaches of the Year.  Larry Buffington from Gayville-Volin was selected as the Area 3-B Coach of the Year after guiding the Raiders to fourth place in the Class B state meet last month.
