KYNT Local Sports for 12-1-17

Three Yankton Bucks made the Class 11-AA All-State football team as announced by the South Dakota Football Coaches Association.  Junior Rex Ryken had 31 receptions for 526 yards and eight touchdowns, and had two interceptions and 36 tackles on defense.  Junior Michael Drotzmann was the all-state punter averaging more than 37 yards a punt and he caught 15 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns.  Senior Reese Anderson anchored the offensive line and was voted Most Inspirational Player for the Bucks.  Placekicker Cole Sawatzke and defensive back Cameron Krejci each earned Honorable Mention.

The Yankton Bucks started their wrestling season last night with losses to Watertown by a 66-9 score and by a 45-30 count to Beresford/Alcester-Hudson.  Eighth-grader Owen Warren led the Bucks with two victories, as Yankton will now compete in the all-day Watertown Invitational on Saturday.

The Yankton High School Winter Sports Kick-Off will be held tonight at the YHS Commons.  Food will be served beginning at 5:30 p-m, with the winter sports coaches talking about their teams starting at 6 p-m, and the public is invited to attend.

The USD men’s basketball team defeated Missouri-Kansas City 82-63 last night in KC.  Matt Mooney led the Coyotes with 30 points, while Nick Fuller added 15 points with 8 rebounds.  The USD men are now 7-2 overall with a game coming up Saturday at 2 p-m at top-ranked Duke University in North Carolina.
