The Mount Marty College basketball squads return to the court this evening with a home G-PAC doubleheader against Northwestern College. The Red Raider teams are both ranked in the top 18 in the national polls. The women’s game is at 6:00 with the men’s tipoff at 8:00, and our broadcast starts at 5:35 pm on KYNT.
The USD women’s basketball team traveled to Fargo and rolled past North Dakota State 82-67 last night. Jaycee Bradley hit 5 three-point baskets and led the Coyotes with 21 points, while Allison Arens of Crofton added 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. USD is unbeaten in two Summit League games and will play at Western Illinois on Thursday night.
The USD men are 13 and 4 on the season and will host an 8 and 4 Western Illinois squad in a 7:00 game tonight at the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
USD sophomore guard Ciara (keer-uh) Duffy was named the Summit League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. Duffy is averaging nearly 17 points a game since returning to the starting lineup for the Coyotes and she had 24 points and 10 rebounds in Saturday’s win over Denver.
The South Dakota State basketball teams both open up Summit League play this evening. The SDSU women’s basketball team will host Omaha at 7:00 in Brookings, while the Jackrabbit men’s squad visits North Dakota State.
Top-ranked Ponca shot 58 percent from the field and the unbeaten Indians rolled past Crofton 65-20 last night in boys basketball. Noah Lancaster led the Warriors with 10 points. In the girls contest, third-ranked Crofton raised their season record to 8 and 2 overall with a 48-30 win over Ponca as freshman Lacey Sprakel led the Lady Warriors with 16 points.
The Yankton Quarterback Club will resume their weekly meetings today. The guest speakers will be officers from the local South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department. The meeting starts at noon at JoDean’s, and the public is welcome to attend.
