Gavins Point Dam Releases

The US Army Corps of Engineers is expecting near normal run-off into the upper Missouri River basin during the months ahead.

Engineer Joel Knofczynski says releases from Gavins Point Dam are expected to remain at the December level of twenty-one thousand five hundred cubic feet per second for the near future.

Knofczynski says by March 1st the reservoir system is expected to have been evacuated to a level that will provide plenty of flood storage for 2018.

Hydraulic engineer Nicole Shorney says that the current run-off forecast calls for twenty-six-point-six million acre feet of water or about one hundred five percent of average.
