Yankton led by two at halftime in the Corn Palace, but Mitchell scored the first 15 points of the third quarter and defeated the Gazelles 51-40 last night. For the second consecutive game, the Gazelles committed 24 turnovers in the loss while Mitchell shot 52 percent from the field. Sophomore Madison Wuebben scored 20 points as the Gazelles dropped to 3 and 4 on the season. Yankton will have a girls and boys doubleheader at Sioux Falls O’Gorman next Tuesday night.
Brookings won a gymnastics triangular last night as Yankton placed second with a team score of 132.35. Payton Steffensen won the floor exercise for Yankton, Lauren Vik took first in the vault, and Samantha Kortan had a fifth-place finish in the All-Around last night. The Gazelles will host their final home meet of the season next Tuesday night with Chamberlain, Vermillion and Wagner-Bon Homme
The Yankton Bucks wrestling team travels to Aberdeen today for a triangular against Brandon Valley and the Golden Eagles. Tomorrow, the Bucks compete in the Harrisburg Invitational.

The University of South Dakota men’s basketball team picked up a 68-58 victory at Fort Wayne last night. Tyler Hagedorn led the Coyotes with 12 points and 11 rebounds as the Coyotes improved their season record to 15 and 5 and 3 and 1 in the Summit League.
South Dakota State University won two Summit League basketball games last night. The Jackrabbit men’s team edged Oral Roberts 78-75 as Mike Daum led the attack with 27 points and 12 rebounds. The S-D-S-U women got a 69-58 win at Denver as Macy Miller led the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
