Kindle On Legislature

The recent news that the South Dakota Legislature approved an increase in state aid to K-through-12th grade education of one-point-seven percent is welcome news to school officials.

While the one percent increase is on-going revenue, Superintendent Wayne Kindle says they are waiting to learn what the point-seven percent one-time increase can be used for.

Kindle says the Yankton School District has no problem meeting the accountability requirements that comes with the new funding.

Prior to the start of the 2018 South Dakota Legislative session Governor Dennis Daugaard had proposed a zero percent increase for state aid to K-through-12th grade education.
