At a special meeting of the Yankton School Board Monday, members approved a letter of support to the Yankton City Commission, asking them to move forward with a mask mandate in response to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Board President Sarah Carda says since the use of masks was made mandatory in Yankton schools, they have been effective in preventing the spread of the virus.
Superintendent Wayne Kindle says nearly all coronavirus cases seen in the Yankton School District originated off-grounds.
The resolution was approved on a unanimous vote.
