With the roll-out of COVID 19 vaccines now underway, questions surround when people can expect to have access to an inoculation and who should receive one.
Yankton Medical Clinic Physician Dr. Byron Nielsen says the vaccine is currently only available for frontline healthcare workers, law enforcement personnel or others whose jobs put them at high risk of exposure.
Nielsen says until the use of vaccines is widespread, it is vital that people follow the CDC’s guidelines for preventing the spread of the coronavirus.
Nielsen says we may have reached a turning-point in the pandemic’s course.
Nielsen says just as soon as vaccines are available for widespread use, local health care officials will be releasing that information to the public.
