Bitter cold temperatures set record lows in a number of cities across the region over the last two days and unofficially another record has been tied today.
The National Weather Service recorded a 25-degree below zero reading Monday morning in Yankton and a high mark of 6 below Sunday. Both temperatures broke 85-year-old records for mid-February cold weather in Yankton. At 7:00 this morning, we had a 26 degree below-zero reading in Yankton, which ties a record low for February 16 set back in 1936.
Omaha and Lincoln were among many cities in Nebraska that have also set record low temperatures this week.
