The Yankton Police Department has been notified of two statewide honors.
Yankton City Manager Amy Leon says awards from the South Dakota Sheriffs and Police Chiefs Association will be given to Officer Dylan Wilson and citizens Kevin and Courtney Opsahl. Officer Wilson is a three-year veteran of the YPD and helped to save a life during an active shooter situation, and the Opsahl’s hosted a major event last year a few months into the pandemic.
Leon says the winners will receive their honors at a state banquet and conference next month.
The South Dakota spring conference for Sheriffs and Police Chiefs comes up April 20-22 in Deadwood.
