After nearly two hours of contentious and emotional testimony from both sides of the issue, the Yankton School Board has voted to enact a mask mandate for all students and faculty within the school district.
The school board held a special meeting Tuesday evening as COVID cases continue to increase across the community. The board voted four to one in favor of implementing the mask mandate. Board Member Kathy Greeneway was the lone descending vote.
The school district received dozens of individuals sharing their thoughts on masks prior to the vote, including two doctors.
