Three sites in Vermillion have been identified as the best potential places to construct a new Clay County Jail and Law Enforcement Center.
A final decision on which site is the best will be made soon by the Jail/Law Enforcement Center Facility Committee. Their recommendation will go to the Clay County Commission for possible approval.
Committee chairman Steven Waller, a retired University of South Dakota professor, says the three potential sites will allow for quick access during emergencies…
Waller says currently, the Clay County Jail is not being used, costing Clay County taxpayers thousands…
Waller adds that the total cost estimates for the construction of the new jail/law enforcement center will be determined based on which site is selected by the county commission.
