So far, two men have emerged as candidates to run for Yankton County Sheriff.
Yankton County Sheriff Jim Vlahakis announced last week that he will not seek re-election in 2022 and will be retiring from law enforcement at the end of this year. He subsequently endorsed Yankton County Chief Deputy Sheriff Michael Rothschadl in the upcoming June primary election.
