LOCAL SPORTS REPORT 3-25-22

  • The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team will make their first ever appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16 this Saturday vs Michigan. The Yotes reached the game after a 61-47 win over Baylor in the round of 32.  USD Coach Dawn Plitzuweit talked about what she took away about her team from that game. Plitzuweit says this run by the Coyotes is something special not only for the university but for the state. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tipoff from Wichita, Kansas.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN 2 and tickets are available at the Coyote ticket office.
  • The Black Hills State cinderella story has come to an end as the Yellow Jackets fell in the NCAA Division II Final Four 70-57 yesterday to defending men’s champion Northwestern Missouri State. The championship game is set, as Northwestern Missouri State will face off vs Augusta tomorrow at 2pm on CBS.
  • Two Yankton athletics programs are in action today. Yankton Track and Field competes in the Mount Marty University Invitational beginning at 10am. Yankton Boys Tennis are out west for an invitational at Rapid City Stevens. Competition begins at 1pm Mountain Time.
  • The South Dakota Coaches Association have identified its selections for the 2022 Girls Basketball All-State Basketball Team.
