The Yankton Gazelles basketball team returns to the court tonight as they travel to Sioux Falls Roosevelt to take on the Rough Riders. Tipoff is currently set for 7:00 PM this evening, and coverage can be found on KYNT and KYNTV beginning with the pregame show at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

The Yankton Bucks basketball squad will get an extra day of rest as they are slated to host Sioux Falls Roosevelt tomorrow night in the Summit Activities Center. Coverage for this contest will also be provided on KYNT and KYNTV, pregame begins at 6:30 PM, with tipoff at 7:00.

The Mount Marty Lancers men’s and women’s basketball teams had to wait an extra day to retake the floor, as they are set to battle the Midland Warriors in Fremont, Nebraska tonight in a GPAC double header. The Women will get the action started at 6:00 PM with the men to follow. Coverage can be found via Riverfront Sports on the Current 94.3, with pregame beginning at 5:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

The Mount Marty Lancers indoor track and field team have a meet set for tomorrow afternoon as they’ll travel to Brookings for the SDSU D2 Open. Events are scheduled to begin at 1:30PM, Friday.

The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles wrestling teams will host a triangular tonight, as the Huron Tigers and the Pierre Governors are scheduled to come to town. Matches are set to begin at 5:00PM inside the Summit Activities Center, with the first duel set to be between Pierre and Huron.

In other Yankton Athletics news, Yankton high school student-athlete Cooper Grotenhuis has committed to the Mount Marty Lancers as a two-sport athlete. Grotenhuis, who is a senior at YHS, has signed on with the football and track-and-field teams at MMU, and will join the Lancers for the 2023-24 campaign.

The South Dakota Coyotes women’s basketball team has been forced to do some rescheduling due to inclement weather. Their game in Denver, Colorado that was originally set to take place tonight has been moved to Monday at 7:00 PM. The Coyotes will now turn their attention to Omaha, as they travel to take on the Mavericks on Saturday at noon.

Despite the conditions, the Coyote men are still scheduled to go toe-to-toe with the Denver Pioneers tonight in the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Tipoff for that Summit League clash is set for 7:00 PM.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits are also set to return to the hardwood tonight as they have a men’s and women’s split matchup with the Omaha Mavericks. The SDSU women will travel to Omaha for their game, while the Jackrabbit men are set to host the Mavericks inside Frost Arena. Both games are scheduled to tipoff at 7:00 PM.

Major women’s basketball news coming out of Brookings, as SDSU’s Myah Selland is 1 of 15 athletes who have been named to the midseason watch list for the Becky Hammon mid-major player of the year award. Selland, a redshirt senior for the Jacks, is currently averaging 16.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game, leading the team in both categories. Selland looks to become the 3rd different winner of the award, after South Dakota’s Ciara (Kier-a) Duffy earned the inaugural honor in 2020, and Florida Gulf Coast’s Kierstan Bell took home the award in 2021 and 2022.
