The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles basketball teams are on the road in Rapid City tonight for a pair of matchups with Rapid City Stevens. The girls tipoff at 7:30 with the boys to follow, pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 7:00 PM this evening.
The Bucks and Gazelles will remain in Rapid City, as they face off with Rapid City Central tomorrow afternoon. Coverage for Saturday’s games will begin at 1:00 on KYNT and KYNTV. The girls get started first at 1:30 PM, with the boys to follow. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call for the weekend.
The Mount Marty Lancers men’s and women’s basketball teams return to the court tomorrow for a GPAC double header against Northwestern in Orange City, Iowa.
Coverage will begin at 1:30 PM on Riverfront Sports 94.3, with the women set to play at 2:00, and the men to follow. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
The Mount Marty Baseball team will open their 2023 campaign tomorrow against Mount Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon.
The Lancers will remain in Omaha for another meeting with Mount Mercy on Sunday. First pitch for Sunday’s game is set for 12:00 PM noon.
The Mount Marty Lancers indoor track and field squad will host the “Mount Marty Last Chance” meet tomorrow afternoon inside the Ruth Donohoe First Dakota Fieldhouse. This is the last regular season meet for the Lancers, with events set to begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
Four Yankton Gazelles will compete in the individual portion of the gymnastics state tournament tomorrow morning in Aberdeen. Ava Koller (Collar) (vault/floor/beam), Mackenzie Steinbrecher (vault/bars), Allie Byrkeland (Burk-land) (vault/bars), and Marissa Byrkeland (beam) will represent the Gazelles in the tournament. Events will begin at 10:30 AM.
The Yankton Bucks and Gazelles wrestling teams will hit the mats tomorrow morning in two separate events. The Gazelles will compete at Harrisburg high school at 9:00 AM, while the Bucks will travel to Huron for their meet at 10:00.
Yankton Bucks football player Trevor Paulsen announced his commitment to Morningside yesterday afternoon. Paulsen, a kicker/punter for the Bucks, stated that a deciding factor in his commitment was his desire to get into aviation. Morningside is currently building a brand new facility and opening a program in that field.
The South Dakota Coyotes and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits basketball squads will write the next chapter of their rivalry tomorrow afternoon. The USD women will host SDSU at 1:00 PM tomorrow inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center, while the Jackrabbit men will welcome the Coyotes to Frost Arena for their game at 6:00.
Both games are part of the 2022-2023 South Dakota Showdown Series between the two universities.
Matchups for the Nebraska High School Girls Basketball Sub-Districts were finalized yesterday evening, and multiple teams in the area are involved.
Crofton will host Sub-District C2-5 as the top seed and will meet either Laurel-Concord-Coleridge or Osmond-Randolph next Tuesday, February 14th.
Hartington-Newcastle will also compete in Sub-District C2-5 on Tuesday as they face off with the #2 seed Ponca.
Hartington-Cedar Catholic are the top seed and host for sub-district D1-4. The Trojans will play Bloomfield in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Wynot are the #2 seed in Sub-District D2-4, and will face Howells-Dodge in the semifinals on the 14th. Humphrey St. Francis are the top seed and host of the bracket.
Sub-District winners and the top-4 wildcard teams will advance to the District Finals on February 24th.
