Battle of the Badges will make its return to Yankton this weekend.
The event returns for the first time since 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and will pit the Yankton Police Department and Sheriff’s Office vs the Yankton Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services in a basketball game.
Mike Villanueva with the Yankton Fire Department says that the event on Sunday will kick off with an exhibition game between the Yankton All Stars and the Sheepdogs.
Villanueva says that they will have a tribute for fallen heroes at halftime of the big game.
Villanueva says that funds raised by the event will go towards the Special Olympics and scholarships for graduating Yankton high school seniors.
Battle of the Badges will be held at Cimpl Arena on Sunday, with the exhibition game at 1:30 and the Battle of the Badges at 3.
Admission is $5 and kids 12 and under can get in for free.
