Yankton Bucks baseball improved to 8 and 1 on the year last night with a sweep over the Sioux Falls Roosevelt Rough Riders.
Lucas Kampshoff’s walk off home run gave the Bucks a 5 to 4 win in game one.

In game two, the Bucks’ bats were led by Drew Ryken who went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI, both coming off a triple in the 6th inning, giving Yankton the 7 to 6 victory. Mark Kathol got the win in both games as a reliever, pitching 5 innings and striking out 4 batters in the double header.
Next up for the Bucks is a pair of games on the 29th against Washington and O’Gorman.
Yankton Gazelles softball is now 4 and 3 on the year following their 11 to 6 victory in Watertown last night.
Brooklyn Townsend was dominant at the plate, going 3 for 5 with 5 RBI and 2 runs scored to lead Yankton to the victory. Grace Behrns got the win on the mound, pitching a complete game and striking out four Watertown batters.
Yankton will hit the road again on Thursday, for a matchup with Sioux Falls Roosevelt at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls.
Yankton Bucks Tennis won both duels in their triangular yesterday as the varsity team defeated Lennox, while the JV squad picked up a win over Vermillion.
Yankton took a 5 to 4 win over Lennox, as Miles Krajewski (Kra-ski) and Luke Moeller went undefeated in the duel, winning their singles matches and their doubles match as a duo.
Yankton’s JV topped Vermillion’s varsity 6 to 3 in duel two. The Bucks took 5 of the 6 singles matches in the win.
Bucks tennis will make the trip to Watertown on Thursday for a triangular against Watertown and Brookings.
Yankton Gazelles golf took home 5th place, out of 15 teams, in yesterday’s Pierre Invitational, shooting a 343 on the day.
Yankton’s Ellia Homstad finished 4th overall in the event shooting a 78 on the day. Also for the Gazelles, Elsie Larson shot 81 to finish 11th, while Gracie Brockberg finished at 91 and Sabrina Krajewski shot 93 to finish under 100 on the day.
Gazelles golf will next compete in a quadrangular on Friday at Fox Run Golf Course against Brandon Valley, Harrisburg, and O’Gorman.
Yankton track and field will host the First Dakota Relays tomorrow at 12:00 PM. Seventeen total schools are scheduled to compete in the event.
The Mount Marty softball team were swept by Northwestern College in a double header yesterday as they fell to 16 and 19 on the year.
The Lancer lost game one 6 to 2 before suffering a 13 to 3 defeat in game two. The Lancers currently sit in 8th in the GPAC with a 9 and 11 record in conference play, while Northwestern has clinched the regular season title.
The Lancers wrap up their regular season on Saturday with a home double header against Doane, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Mount Marty baseball has had the schedule altered for their last regular season series against Hastings. The Lancers and Broncos will now meet in a double header Thursday beginning at 3:00 PM, with another pair of games on Saturday. All games will take place at Riverside Field in Yankton.
Mount Marty Lancer men’s golf finished 11th in the GPAC championships, following yesterday’s final round of competition.
Individually, the Lancers were led by Ted Bengston, who shot a final round 74 to finish the three-round event at 227, tied for 26th. Also for the Lancers, Reid Hansen shot a 244, Bennett Cassens shot 248, Jackson Faber carded a 250 and Hunter Bailey finished the event at 265.
This meet ends the Lancers 2023 season, Jackson Faber is the lone senior on the roster, with the rest of the team being listed as underclassmen.
Mount Marty men’s tennis have qualified for the GPAC tournament it was announced yesterday, as the Lancers made it in as the 6th overall seed.
The Lancers claimed the final spot in the tournament following their victory over Hastings last weekend, which was the first regular season GPAC victory in program history.
Mount Marty will face #3 seeded Morningside in round one, as the Mustangs defeated the Lancers 6 to 1 in their previous meeting this season.
Mount Marty Track and Field will host the MMU Twilight Meet this morning at 11 AM. Events will take place at Williams Field in Yankton.
