The City of Mitchell has approved a $17 million bond issue that will see the addition of athletic facilities to their new high school.
According to Mitchell Superintendent Joe Childs, the school district originally budgeted $45 million for the new school with plans calling for the athletic facilities to fit within that budget, but inflation raised the total cost up to $62 million.
Childs says that nearly 82% of voters approved the bond issue.
Childs says that the new high school is expected to be completed in 2025.
