Yankton, SD – Mount Marty University (MMU) has hired Seth Wiebelhaus, a Fordyce native, as the new assistant coach for the Mount Marty Lancers Track and Field programs.
Wiebelhaus moves over to the track and field program as a coach after four-plus years as an athlete for the track and field program.

During the previous year, Seth was honored as the recipient of Mount Marty’s Albert Fernandez Champions of Character award. This prestigious recognition is bestowed upon an athlete who has showcased remarkable academic accomplishments, demonstrated exemplary leadership within the campus and community, and embraced the core character values of the NAIA Champions of Character initiative, alongside excelling in their athletic pursuits and harboring ambitions for the future. As a track and field competitor, Seth achieved the distinction of being an NAIA All-American in both Heptathlon and Decathlon. Notably, he secured second place in HEP and sixth place in 60H at the GPAC Indoor Track & Field Championships and emerged as the first-place winner in DEC and fourth-place finisher in 110H at the GPAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. A testament to his remarkable abilities, Seth claimed the fifth position in the Decathlon at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Marion, Indiana, setting a new school record with an impressive 6,678 points. In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Seth was honored as the MMU Male Athlete of the Year in 2022, after an exceptional track and field season that has gone down in program history. His remarkable performance in the decathlon at the Outdoor GPAC Championships earned him the title of MVP, as he contributed 22 points to the Lancers’ overall score. Moreover, Seth concluded his remarkable season on a high note at the NAIA National Championships in Alabama, where he garnered All-American status by securing the fifth position.
