The Yankton Police Department responded early Sunday morning to the Sacred Heart Emergency Room, as a man had arrived with a gunshot wound. The man would succumb to his injuries.
YPD conducted an investigation of the location in which the incident took place, sending officers to the 1900 block of Locust.
Preliminary investigation of the incident has led to the arrest of Cody James Auch, 20. Auch has been charged with first degree manslaughter, as well as reckless discharge of a firearm/possession of a loaded firearm while intoxicated.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time, and the investigation is still ongoing.
