Yankton High School Senior Shaylor Platt announced on Wednesday that he was staying home to continue his football career, as he has signed with Mount Marty University.
Platt, who also held an offer from Dakota Wesleyan, said it took him some time to come to a final decision as he wanted to make the right choice.
Platt gave credit to a group of former Buck teammates and current Lancers for helping him choose to stay local.
Lancers Head Football Coach John Michaletti said that Platt’s toughness and commitment to the team were attributes they identified early on in the recruiting process.
Michaletti also spoke highly of the Yankton High School coaching staff and the pipeline that has been built between Yankton High School and Mount Marty.
Platt becomes the 2nd Bucks football player to commit to Mount Marty this year, joining Austin Gobel who will also run track for the Lancers.
Platt says he’s currently undecided about his future studies but is weighing his options between becoming a teacher and pursuing a business degree.
