Yankton Bucks Basketball fell to Watertown last night, 64 to 58, in their final home game of the season.
Landon Potts scored a game-high 39 points in what was the final home game for the Yankton senior. Tucker Gilmore, who also played the last home game of his career last night, added 8 points of his own.
Yankton heads west for their next game, as they take on Spearfish on Friday as part of a boys and girls doubleheader.
Yankton Gazelles Basketball was on the road last night, as they fell to the Watertown Arrows 42 to 32.
Claire Tereshinski tallied a game-high 20 points for the Gazelles. Eden Wolfgram and Macy Drotzmann were responsible for the rest of Yankton’s scoring with 6 points apiece.
Yankton is westward bound for their next game, as they take on Spearfish on Friday as part of a boys and girls doubleheader.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Basketball will host senior night tonight, as they take on the Midland Warriors in a GPAC doubleheader.
Midland swept the Lancers earlier this year in Fremont, Nebraska. Winning the women’s game 62 to 54, and the men’s game 92 to 65.
The women play first at 6:00 PM this evening with the men to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 5:15. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Mount Marty Track and Field athlete Mason Schleis has officially qualified for the NAIA Indoor National Meet, competing in the men’s heptathlon.
Schleis, who finished third in the same competition last season, is one of 16 men in the nation to qualify for this year’s event.
The NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships are scheduled for February 29th through March 2nd in Brookings. More qualifiers will be announced on Friday.
Following day two of the Para-Badminton World Championships, Yankton Miles Krajewski is 2 and 2 across his four matches.
Krajewski dropped his lone men’s singles match so far, and has split his two mixed doubles matches alongside Jayci Simon. Krajewski and his men’s doubles partner Vitor Tavares of Brazil are currently 1 and 0.
Krajewski’s next scheduled match is against China’s Lin Naili, to wrap up round-robin play in Group E.
Five Yankton Bucks and Gazelles will represent Yankton Wrestling in this year’s state tournament, beginning tomorrow in Sioux Falls.
For the Bucks, Shayce Platt, Edly Amaro, Peyton Eustace, and Dylan Sloan will compete, while Jaclyn Kite is the lone Gazelle.
Matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM tomorrow at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.
The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting at noon today at the River Rock Event Center on Broadway.
This week’s featured guest speakers are Yankton High School Head Softball Coach Jill Muth, Mount Marty Head Softball Coach Kayla Bryant, and Mount Marty Head Baseball Coach Josh Teichroew.
Five area high school boys basketball teams took the court last night in their respective Subdistrict semi-finals, as Cedar Catholic and Crofton were in action in C2-8, Wynot and Hartington-Newcastle competed in D2-5, and Bloomfield battled in D1-5.
In C2-8, Cedar Catholic was able to defeat Osmond-Randolph 68 to 26, while Crofton fell to Laurel-Concord-Coleridge 76 top 55. The Trojans will now host LCC on Thursday in the subdistrict finals.
In D2-5, Wynot defeated Hartington-Newcastle 52 to 43. The Blue Devils will now take on the hosts, Walthill, on Thursday in the subdistrict final.
In D1-5, Bloomfield was eliminated by Wausa 51 to 40.
South Dakota Men’s Basketball returns home tomorrow night, as they host the Kansas City Roos inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM.
South Dakota Women’s Basketball heads south for tomorrow night’s matchup with the Kansas City Roos. Tipoff is set for 7:00 PM.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball will play host to the Denver Pioneers tomorrow night. Tipoff from Frost Arena is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
