Yankton High School Senior Track and Field athlete Shae Rumsey officially signed with the Minnesota State Mavericks Track and Field program on Wednesday.
Rumsey said that positive meetings with the coaching staff at Minnesota State swayed her decision to join the Mavericks.
Rumsey also spoke highly of her current coaches at YHS, crediting them for helping her grow as a runner and person.
Rumsey enters her senior season as the defending Class AA champion in the 400-meter run. Rumsey also finished in the top-4 at last year’s state meet as a member of the Gazelles 4×800 meter and 1600 meter medley relay teams.
Rumsey plans to study exercise science at MSU, with the goal of achieving a doctorate in the field of physical therapy.
