Mount Marty Baseball went 1 and 1 yesterday, defeating Saint Thomas 6 to 2 before falling to Roosevelt University 7 to 1.
Kiko Nunez led the way at the plate in game one, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Aspen Dahl got the win on the mound, striking out three batters and allowing no runs over two innings.
Aidan Chang scored the lone run of game two for the Lancers off of a Ryan Bachman double. A five-run 5th inning for Roosevelt would give them the lead and eventual win.
The Lancers wrap up their Florida trip today with a pair of tough games. Taking on #1 Southeastern at 11:00 AM, and #7 Bellevue at 3:00 PM.
The Vermillion Tanagers Girls’ Basketball team handed Mahpíya Lúta their first loss of the season yesterday, 41 to 37, in the opening round of the Class A State Tournament.
Brooke Jensen led the way for the Tanagers, securing a 13-point, 12-rebound double-double in the win.
Vermillion will take on top-seeded Sisseton today in the semifinal round. Full results from yesterday across all classes and matchups for today are listed below.

The Wynot Blue Devils are in the semifinal round of the Nebraska Boys Basketball State Tournament in Class D2, following Wednesday’s 51 to 23 win over St. Mary’s.
Wynot will face the #1 seed Shelton today, with the winner advancing to the state championship game tomorrow. Tipoff from Lincoln is set for 6:00 PM.
The Summit League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments begin tomorrow at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls.
South Dakota State occupies the #1 seed in both tournaments, while South Dakota is #4 in the women’s and #9 in the men’s. The only games played today will be the 8/9 play-in games, with the winners facing the #1 seed in round one

The Summit League Men’s All-Conference teams were announced yesterday. The South Dakota Coyotes had two players honored this year while South Dakota State had three honorees, including Player of the Year Zeke Mayo.
Alongside Mayo for SDSU was Wiliam Kyle III who was the Defensive Player of the Year. Both Mayo and Kyle made the 1st team, while Charlie Easley earned spots on the All-Defensive team and was an All-Conference Honorable Mention.
For USD, Lahat Thioune and Kaleb Stewart each made the Summit League All-Newcomer team. Thioune transferred to USD this season from UCF. Stewart spent the first years of his college career at Louisiana Tech before joining the Coyotes.
The Summit League Women’s All-Conference teams were announced on Thursday. The South Dakota State Jackrabbits had five different players honored, including Player of the Year Brooklyn Meyer, while the South Dakota Coyotes had two players recognized this season.
Brooklyn Meyer also earned 1st team and Defensive Player of the Year honors for SDSU. Elsewhere, Paige Meyer was 1st team All-Conference, Tori Nelson was a member of the All-Defensive Team, Madison Mathiowetz was All-Conference Honorable Mention, and Jenna Hopp made the All-Freshman team. SDSU head coach Aaron Johnston was also named Summit League Coach of the Year.
For USD, Grace Larkins earned her 2nd career 1st-team All-Conference selection. Her teammate Kendall Holmes was selected to the All-Newcomer team, following her first season for the Coyotes after transferring from DePaul.
