Mount Marty Baseball is receiving votes in the latest NAIA top-25 coaches poll, following their Spring Break swing in Florida.
The Lancers went 5 and 4 during the trip, including a win over then-15th-ranked Ave Maria and Saint Thomas who received votes.
Mount Marty is currently 14 and 7 on the year and one of three GPAC teams in this week’s poll. Doane is ranked 8th and Concordia sits 13th.
Mount Marty Baseball opens up GPAC play tomorrow afternoon, as they host Northwestern for a doubleheader.
The Lancers are coming off three straight losses to end their Spring Break trip, two of which came to teams ranked in the top 10, including #1 Southeastern.
Game one between the Lances and Red Raiders is set for 2:00 PM tomorrow with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 1:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Yankton Gazelles Wrestler Jaclyn Kyte has been selected as an All-Eastern South Dakota Conference honoree following a freshman campaign that ended with a state tournament qualification.
Kyte finished the season with a 29 and 11 overall record and was the runner-up at 138 pounds at the ESD Conference meet.
Kyte went 1 and 2 in the state tournament at 138 pounds, with her losses coming to a pair of seniors in runner-up Madison Snyder, and 4th place Kieonna Smith.
Mount Marty Lancer Annika Johnson will be competing in Nationals for Shotgun Sports next week in San Antonio, Texas.
Johnson, a senior from Hugo, Minnesota, will compete in American trap shooting, sporting clay, American skeet, and super sporting shooting.
The competition will take place at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas. Johnson’s first event will be American Trap shooting at 9:00 AM on March 20th.
The South Dakota High School Boys Basketball State Tournament begins today across Classes AA, A, and B.
Class AA’s games will be held at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, Class A will compete at the Summit Arena in Rapid City, and Class B’s tournament will take place at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen. Full brackets are listed below.
