Mount Marty Baseball will play the first half of a four-game series against Morningside today at Riverside Field in Yankton.
The series was originally scheduled for this weekend but had to be moved up due to severe weather in the forecast.
First pitch of game one is scheduled for 2:00 PM with game two to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 1:30. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.
Yankton High School will host a Spring Sports Kickoff in the Yankton High School Commons this evening. Food & beverages will be served at 5:30 PM, with spring athletics coaches scheduled to speak at 6:00.
Yankton High School Track and Field will compete in an indoor invitational tomorrow hosted by Mount Marty University. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM.
Yankton Bucks Tennis is scheduled to travel west tomorrow for a pair of duels with Rapid City Christian and Rapid City Central. Yankton will face RC Christian at 2:00 PM Mountain time, and RC Central at 5:00.
The Mount Marty Lancers had 13 student-athletes selected as NAIA Scholar-Athletes yesterday, with 6 men and 7 women making the list.
For the Lancer men, Josh Arlt, Max Herber, Noah Allen, Thalen Schroeder, Tristan Furgeson, and Cane Schmitt all made the list. On the women’s side, Brielle Bussinger, Emma Jarovski, Kaesha Davis, Kaity Hove, Logan Kautzman, Macy Kempf, and Tatum Ligtenberg were all honored.
To be selected as an NAIA Scholar-Athlete, a student must have attended their current institution for at least a full year and maintain a 3.5 grade point average.
South Dakota State Men’s Basketball will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament tonight, as they take on the 2nd-seeded Iowa State Cyclones.
The Jackrabbits are 22 and 12 on the year following their Summit League Championship campaign, including 8 straight wins to end the season. Iowa State enters the tournament as the Big 12 Conference champions at 27 and 7.
Tipoff is scheduled for 6:35 PM. The game will be held at the CHI Health Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
South Dakota Women’s Basketball begins play in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament tomorrow, as they host UC Riverside.
The Coyotes are 21 and 12 on the year entering their 6th WNIT in program history, winning the tournament back in 2016. UC Riverside are 18 and 13 so far this year, including a 13 and 7 record in the Big West Conference.
Tipoff from the Sanford Coyote Sports Center in Vermillion is scheduled for 7:00 PM tomorrow night.
