Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball was scheduled to travel to Brookings yesterday for a Class A doubleheader, but that matchup was canceled due to inclement weather.

No make-up date has been set at this time. Next up for Post 12 is a home doubleheader with Rapid City Post 320 on Monday. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 4:00 PM at Riverside Field.

The University of South Dakota Track and Field program had three athletes and Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Lucky Huber (Hue-ber) honored by the Summit League in their year-end awards.

Huber was selected as the Women’s Outdoor Coach of the Year for the 2024 season, earning the honor for the third time in his career.

Individually for USD, Marshall Faurot was named  Summit League Outdoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Year, adding to his indoor award earned earlier this year. 

Gen Hirata was the Summit League Outdoor Women’s Field Athlete of the Year for the second straight season. 

Lastly, Jacy Pulse was named Summit League Outdoor Women’s Track Athlete of the Year, also for the second straight season.

All awards were voted on by the league’s head coaches.

Several University of South Dakota Alumni are set to compete in the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.

Chris Nilsen will compete in the men’s pole vault. The semifinal round is scheduled to begin this evening at 7:50 PM Pacific/9:50 PM Central. The final will be held on Sunday.

Emily Grove is slated to compete in the women’s pole vault. The semifinal round is set for June 28th with the final being held on June 30th.

Current USD throws assistant coach Maggie Ewen will compete in the women’s shot put. The semifinal round is scheduled for June 28th, with the final set for June 29th.

Jacy Pulse will compete in women’s 400-meter hurdles. Round one will be held on June 27th, the semifinals will take place on June 29th, with the finals on June 30th.

The US Olympic Trials are broadcast on NBC, the USA Network, and Peacock.

The South Dakota State Men’s Basketball team will take on Mcneese State to open their 2024-25 campaign, headlining the first-ever Field of 68 Showcase.

The Jackrabbits will be the third and final game held inside the Sanford Pentagon on November 4th when they face the Cowboys at 5:00 PM.

SDSU is coming off a season that saw them earn a bid in the NCAA Tournament, as they captured the Summit League Regular Season and Tournament Titles.
