Yankton Post 12 Legion Baseball swept Brandon Valley in their doubleheader yesterday, 4 to 2 in game one and 6 to 2 in game two.

In game one, Mark Kathol won on the mound, striking out three batters over 5 and 2/3rds innings of work. Easton Feser finished 2 for 4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs.

Owen Wishon was the winning pitcher in game two, striking out eight batters over 4 innings. Lucas Kampshoff led the Post 12 bats, ending game two 3 for 5 with two runs scored.

Next up for Post 12 is the Gopher Classic in Minnesota, beginning on Friday. 

Mount Marty University has announced the appointment of Rylee Schneider as the new Dance Coach for the Lancers.

Schneider competed in a variety of dance styles during her time at studios in Lincoln, Nebraska from 2005 to 2017. Collegiately, Schneider was a cheerleader at the University of Nebraska-Kearney and was a member of the USD COED Cheer Team.

Professionally, Schneider has been the University of South Dakota Mascot Coordinator since 2022 and served as a Central Region Staffer for the National Cheerleaders Association from 2021 to 2023.

The Crofton Bluejays and the Irene Cardinals met in a South Central League doubleheader on Sunday, with the Bluejays claiming victory in both games.

Game one ended 11 to 1, as Zach Hegge struck out nine batters and allowed only one hit on the mound for Crofton.

Game two ended in a 12 to 3 win for the Bluejays. Tyler Koch led the way at the plate, finishing 2 for 3 with three RBIs and a pair of doubles. Ben Hegge was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters and pitching a complete game.

Crofton’s next league game is scheduled for Sunday in Yankton. Irene will also return to action on Sunday, hosting Freeman in a doubleheader.
