Yankton Bucks Soccer is now 1-1-1 on the season following their 2 to 2 draw with Watertown yesterday at Crane-Ypungworth Field.
The Bucks were down 2 to 0 with under 2 minutes to play, but back-to-back goals from Sophomore Tony Guitron tied the game with 48 seconds to play.
Yankton is back in action tomorrow night, on the road against Harrisburg. The Bucks will play the 2nd half of a boys and girls doubleheader.
Yankton Gazelles Soccer moved to 2 and 1 on the year last night with a 4 to 1 victory over Watertown.
All 4 goals came in the 2nd half, including 2 from Iyana Becker, tallying her 2nd brace already this season.
Eden Wolfgram and Lucy Johnson rounded out the Yankton scoring with a goal apiece.
Yankton is on the road against Harrisburg tomorrow night. The Gazelles will play first at 5:00 PM with the Bucks to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 4:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.
The South Dakota Football Football Coaches Association has released its “week 0” Poll for Class 11-AA, with the Yankton Bucks in 3rd to start the season.
Yankton trails Tea Area in 2nd and the defending state champion Pierre in first. The same three teams took the top spots in the Class 11-AA media poll earlier this week, with Yankton 2nd and Tea 3rd.
Regionally, Avon was picked 1st in Class 9-B. The Pirates sit atop the opening polls from the media and coaches. Full polls for each class are available at the end.
Yankton Gazelles Tennis is now 4 and 0 on the young season following a pair of victories yesterday, 9-0 over Lennox and 7-2 over Vermillion.
Nora and Sabrina Krajewski went undefeated in singles and doubles play over the two duels, as did Paige Mitzel and Addison Gordon.
Yankton will be on the road in Brandon for their next competition on Friday. The Gazelles will face Watertown and Rapid City Stevens during the event.
Yankton Bucks Golf tied for 10th in the Warrior/Lynx Invite, following a final round 317 as a team.
Brayden Byrkeland led Yankton shooting a 161 for the two-day tournament. Also for the Bucks, Kai Cody shot 163, Ryker Larsen and Eli Larson each tallied 164, Easton Vellek shot 166, and Parker Reilly carded a 175.
Next up for the Bucks is a home event on Friday at Fox Run Golf Course, beginning at 9:00 AM.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer are on the road tomorrow for a doubleheader with Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, Kansas.
Both Lancer squads are 0 and 1 to start the season following losses to Graceland last week.
The women are scheduled to play first at 5:00 PM with the men to follow.
