The Yankton County Commission has approved an amended version of article 26, which is a wind ordinance within the county.
Yankton County Commission Chair, John Marquardt, says that the amended version has a change to the distance that a windmill is allowed to be built from those willing and unwilling to have a windmill near their property.
Commissioner Wanda Howey-Fox says that the amended article should prevent the multiplication of new windmills in the county.
The commission unanimously approved article 26, which is expected to go into effect in October.
