The two girls that were hit by a vehicle in Crofton while walking to school last week are still in critical condition, but are doing better.
Breanna, (11) and Katelynn (8), were walking to school last Friday when a juvenile male hit them at a crosswalk.
The two girls were airlifted to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital and then later Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls with life-threatening injuries.
The girls’ aunt, Diane Schieffer, posted on a Caring Bridge page that both Breanna and Katelynn have had multiple surgeries over the past few days, but are both off of their ventilators.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for the girls’ surgeries at https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-breanna-and-katelynn-heal?attribution_id=sl:0a65c325-6e3b-4f8b-89fa-7d2e18e878a8&utm_campaign=man_sharesheet_dash&utm_content=amp9c&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link
