Mount Marty football kicked off the season in a big way last weekend with a 42-14 win over Culver-Stockton.
One of the key contributors in the victory was Yankton native Rugby Ryken, the Lancers Redshirt Freshman Quarterback, who made his first career start.
Rugby isn’t the only Ryken on the team, as his brother Rex, a Tight End, has been with the team since its first game in 2021.
Rex was out with an injury against Culver-Stockton, but says he and his brother have always had a connection on the field.
Rugby says that he is looking forward to throwing passes to Rex.
With Rex hoping to play, the Lancers next game is on Saturday at Dakota Wesleyan at 6 p.m.
