Yankton Bucks Football is 4th in the latest South Dakota Football Coaches Association polls for Class 11-AA.

Watertown moved into the top spot with their win over Pierre. The Governors fall to 2nd with Spearfish 3rd. Brookings rounds out the top 5.

Yankton Bucks and Gazelles split their senior night doubleheader against the Huron Tigers yesterday afternoon.

The Gazelles defeated Huron 10 to 0 with the 8 different Gazelles scoring a goal. Yankton got the scoring started early with two goals in the first 5 minutes, including a chip shot from Sienne Tacke (See-en Tack-ee)

The Bucks were shut out 1 to 0 in their matchup with Huron. Andrew Budig (boo-dig) stopped several shots to keep the game within reach, including a 1 on 1 opportunity in the 2nd half.

The Bucks and Gazelles return to action tomorrow with a road doubleheader against Mitchell. The Bucks play first at 4:00 PM with the Gazelles to follow. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 3:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.

Yankton Gazelles Volleyball returns home tomorrow night to host the Mitchell Kernels inside the Summit Activities Center.

Yankton is 1 and 10 on the year following a 5-set loss to Huron on Monday. Mitchell is 1 and 7 this year following a 3-0 loss to Harrisburg.

First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT Plus and KYNTV begins at 6:30. Bryce Ladwig will be on the call.

Mount Marty Volleyball’s Tevan Erickson has been named the GPAC Setter of the Week for the 2nd time in the last 3 weeks.

Erickson is a native of Elkton, SD, and an MMU freshman. She tallied 72 assists, 26 digs, 4 kills, and 2 blocks as the Lancers went 1 and 1 over two matches. 

MMU is on the road tonight to take on Hasting College in Hastings, Nebraska. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM this evening.

Yankton Gazelles Tennis went 0 and 2 yesterday in their triangular against Sioux Falls Lincoln and Mitchell.

Both duals ended 7-2 against the Gazelles. Nora and Sabrina Krajewski went 2 and 0 in doubles play during the duals, with each adding a singles win as well.

Yankton hosts a quadrangular tomorrow at the YHS Tennis Courts Rapid City Christian, Vermillion, and Sioux Falls Christian will compete in the event. Yankton and Vermillion will not play each other. Matches are scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM.

Mount Marty Men’s Soccer’s Alessio Pirello has been selected as the GPAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Pirello is a senior goalkeeper from Stuttgart, Germany who recorded 5 saves in the Lancers win over Central Christian College on Saturday. Pirello has 14 saves in 5 appearances this season.

The Lancer men and women will return to action tonight, hosting Dakota Wesleyan for a GPAC doubleheader. The women will play first at 5:00 PM with the men to follow.

Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance competed in Huron last night, with Dance taking 2nd place and Cheer finishing 7th.

The Dance team was propelled into a runner-up finish by finishing 1st in the pom competition. Yankton finished 7 points off of grand champions Harrisburg.

Next up for Yankton is the Brookings Invitational this Saturday at the Swiftel Center.

The Yankton Quarterback Club will host their weekly meeting today at the River Rock Events Center on Broadway.

Augustana head football coach Jerry Olszewski (aal-shev-skee) will be this week’s featured speaker. Olszewski is currently in his 12th year as Vikings Head Coach.

A meal will be available for purchase beginning at 11:15 AM with the meeting scheduled to begin at noon. The public is invited to attend.
