Yankton Bucks Football improved to 3 and 2 on the year on Friday with a 35-7 victory over the Pierre Governors.

Yankton got the scoring started early as Easton Nelson found Cohen Zahrbock in the back of the endzone for the game’s first touchdown.

Nelson would add another pair of touchdown passes in the win, both to Carson Ness.

Yankton returns home this week for their homecoming game against Sturgis at Crane-Youngworth Field.

Mount Marty Football fell to 3 and 2 on the year with a 45-6 loss to Morningside on Saturday.

The Lancers were able to strike first in the game, as Rugby Ryken found his brother Rex for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Rugby Ryken ended the day with 158 yards and a touchdown through the air and a team-high 50 yards on the ground Trevor Fitzgerald was the leading receiver with 5 catches for 76 yards.

Mount Marty is on the road this Saturday, taking on Briar Cliff in Sioux City, Iowa.

Yankton Gazelles Volleyball was defeated by Aberdeen Central on Saturday, three sets to zero.

The final set exceeded the 25-point mark, as both teams traded points down the stretch. Yankton was able to tie the set at 30 following a kill from Jade Jere (Jerry).

Yankton hosts Sioux Falls Jefferson tomorrow night. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT Plus and KYNTV begins at 6:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.

Mount Marty Volleyball improved to 10 and 6 over the weekend with a 3-0 sweep of Haskell Indian Nations University.

Julia Weber posted a team-high 12 kills with Caitlin Guenther adding 10 kills and 7 blocks. Tevan Erickson recorded 31 assists and 2 aces for the Lancers.

MMU returns home tomorrow night to host in-state rival Dakota Wesleyan. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 7:00. Tehl Tanner will be on the call.

Yankton Gazelles Soccer ended their regular season with a 1-0 victory over Aberdeen Central on Saturday.

Auvianna Seiler (Sigh-ler) buried the lone goal of the match for the Gazelles off of an assist from Iyanna Becker.

The Gazelles finished the regular season at 8-4-2, including a 5-2-2 record in ESD play. Yankton is currently 8th in the Class AA standings, with multiple other teams having at least one game remaining in their regular seasons.

Yankton Bucks Soccer ended their regular season on Saturday with a 7-0 loss to Aberdeen Central.

Amos Alonso filled in as goalkeeper due to an injury to Andrew Budig, recording 8 saves in the loss. 

Yankton ends their season 19th in Class AA with a 2-11-1 overall record. Yankton is outside of the playoffs with the top 16 teams qualifying.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer were swept by Dordt on Saturday in their GPAC doubleheader.

The Lancer Men fell 1-0 in their match. The winning goal for Dordt came with just under 10 minutes to play.

The Lancer women were shut out as well 3-0 by the Defenders. Dordt’s Karinna Tel scored a hat trick with all three goals.

Next up for MMU soccer is a GPAC doubleheader on Saturday against Briar Cliff.

  • Bon Homme fell to Parkston 48-6.
  • Gayville-Volin was shut out by Alcestester-Hudson 52-0.
  • Irene-Wakonda lost to Centerville 32-6.
  • Vermillion beat Milbank 20-0.

In Nebraska:

  • Crofton topped Hartington-Newcastle 34-14.
  • Cedar Catholic defeated West Point-Bremer 49-14.
  • Wynot beat Lyons-Decatur Northeast 54-8.

Yankton Gazelles Tennis is in Watertown today for day one of the ESD Conference Meet. 

Matches will be held at Watertown Highland Park, beginning at 2:00 PM.

Yankton Bucks Golf has their ESD Conference Meet today at Moccasin Creek Country Club in Aberdeen.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Golf are scheduled to host the two-day “MMU Tatanka Invite” beginning.

South Dakota Coyotes Football is now 3-1 on the year following a 42-13 victory over #17 ranked Southern Illinois to open conference play.

The Coyotes were led offensively by Travis Theis (Tice) and Charles Pierre Jr. Theis ran for 147 yards and 2 touchdowns while Pierre added 124 yards and 2 more scores.

USD is on the road next week to take on Murray State in Murray, Kentucky.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers returned to the win column last Saturday with a 28-10 road victory over Purdue.

Dylan Raiola ended the day with 244 yards and a touchdown through the air. Linebacker John Bullock added a pick-6 for the Husker defense.

Nebraska is back at home this Saturday to take on Rutgers.
