Mount Marty Cross Country Runner Joseph Cross has been selected as the GPAC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week.

          Cross, a freshman from Jefferson, South Dakota, took 1st place in the Wildcat Classic hosted by Wayne State College last weekend, posting a new school record for the course with a time of 26:33.69.

          Cross and the Lancers are back in action on Saturday for the Briar Cliff Invitational at the Adams Homestead and Nature Reserve in North Sioux City.

          Yankton Bucks Football has their homecoming game tomorrow night, hosting the Sturgis Scoopers at Crane-Youngworth Field.

          Yankton is 3-2 on the year following last week’s 35-7 win over Pierre. Sturgis is 2-3 coming of back-to-back 1-point losses to Huron and Aberdeen Central.

          Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM tomorrow night. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:00. Bryce Ladwig and Josh Boelter will be on the call.

          Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country will be in action today, competing in South Sioux City, Nebraska.

          The Varsity Girls run at 1:00 PM with the Varsity Boys scheduled for 1:30. Races are held at the Jeffrey C Dibble Soccer Complex.

          The Class AA Girls Soccer regular season ends tonight. As it stands, the Yankton Gazelles are the #8 seed and would host a first-round playoff match next week.

          Yankton ended their regular season on Saturday with a win over Aberdeen Central, earning an 8-4-2 record, but their postseason positioning could change depending on tonight’s outcomes in Class AA.
