Yankton Cross Country placed 2nd as a team in the girls’ division and 3rd in the boys’ division at yesterday’s meet in South Sioux City.
Yankton’s Rilyn Jackson and Abby Johanneson finished 3rd and 4th individually in the girls’ 5,000-meter race. The Bucks had two runners post top-10 finishes, Abram Chance in 2nd and Bryton Olson in 7th.
Next up for the Bucks and Gazelles is the ESD Conference Championships, on October 12th in Huron.
Following the conclusion of the Class AA Soccer regular season, the Yankton Gazelles are 7th in the standings and are set to host a 1st round playoff matchup.
The Gazelles enter the postseason with an 8-4-2 overall record, earning 3 wins and a draw in their last 4 matches.
As it stands, Yankton will host #10 Brandon Valley in the first round of the Class AA Playoffs next Tuesday. Playoff matchups have yet to be made official at the time of writing, Brandon Valley is the projected matchup for Yankton.
Yankton Bucks Football hosts Sturgis today for their homecoming game at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Yankton is 3-2 following their 35-7 win over Pierre last week, while Sturgis is coming off back-to-back losses at 2-3. This is the first meeting between the two teams since 2021.

Mount Marty Football is on the road tomorrow night, taking on the Briar Cliff Chargers in Sioux City, Iowa.
Tomorrow’s matchup will be the inaugural battle for the “Catholic Cup” between the two universities. The Lancers enter the game with a 3-2 record, while the Chargers are 1-3.

Mount Marty Volleyball is on the road tonight, taking on the Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lancers are 11-6 on the year following their 3-1 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Tuesday. MMU has played Morningside once already this season in a non-conference match. MMU fell in that match 3-0.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer are set to take on the Briar Cliff Chargers tomorrow in a GPAC doubleheader in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Lancer Men and Women are both coming off a week of rest after being swept by Dordt in a doubleheader last Saturday.
The women are scheduled to play first at noon with the men to follow.
Mount Marty Cross Country is back in action tomorrow, competing in the Briar Cliff Invitational in North Sioux City.
Races are scheduled to begin at 10:45 AM and will be held at the Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve.
The South Dakota Coyotes hit the gridiron tomorrow for a road conference matchup with Murray State.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits open up Missouri Valley Football Conference play tomorrow with a road clash against Northern Iowa.
The top-ranked Jackrabbits are coming off a bye with a 3-1 record. SDSU won their last game against Southeastern Louisianna 41-0 two weeks ago.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers return home tomorrow night to take on Big 10 foe Rutgers.
