Yankton Bucks Golf is tied for 12th as a team following day one of the Class AA State Championships in Watertown.

Yankton shot a 318 on day one, led by Parker Riley who’s tied for 19th individually at a 3-over 75.

Rounding out team scoring for the Bucks, Easton Vellek shot 77, Kai Cody shot an 82, and Ryker Larson shot 86.

The second and final round of the Championships begins at 9:00 AM this morning at Watertown Municipal Cattail Golf Course.

Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance competed in Sioux Falls yesterday, finishing 7th in Cheer and 6th in Dance.

Harrisburg claimed the Cheer title with a score of 293.5. Yankton finished at 207.5 on the day.

Yankton scored 243.75 in dance, finishing 4th in the Jazz competition with a score of 246.5.

Next up for Yankton is an invitational in Watertown on Thursday. Events are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM.

Yankton Bucks Football remains 3rd in the latest Class 11-AA Media Polls following their 35-0 win over Sturgis last week.

Brookings moves into the top spot with Spearfish jumping into 2nd after their win over former #1 team Watertown. The Arrows now sit in 4th with Tea Area rounding out the top five.

Also in the area, Avon remains the #1 team in Class 9-B earning a unanimous 1st place selection. Full polls for all classes are available at the end.

Yankton Gazelles Soccer is set to host Brandon Valley today in the opening round of the Class AA State Playoffs.

Yankton finished the regular season with an 8-4-2 overall record, with one of those losses coming to the Lynx 1-0 in Brandon.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.

Mount Marty Volleyball returns to the hardwood tonight to host Northwestern inside Cimpl Arena.

The Lancers are 12-7 overall and 4-4 in conference play, following their sweep of Briar Cliff on Saturday. The visiting Red Raiders are undefeated on the year at 19-0 and are ranked #1 in the entire NAIA.

First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM this evening.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer return home tomorrow night to host Hastings College at Crane-Youngworth Field.

Both Lancers squads are coming off of losses to Briar Cliff on Saturday. The Lancer Men are 4-5-1 while the Women are 4-6-1 on the year.

The Women are scheduled to play first at 5:00 PM tomorrow night with the Men to follow.

University of South Dakota Athletic Director Jon Schemmel will be the featured speaker at tomorrow’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.

Schemmel is still in his first year as the AD at USD after being appointed last December. Before coming to USD he served as the President & CEO of the Foundation & Alumni Association and Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Dakota State University.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon tomorrow at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. A paid meal will be served beginning at 11:15. The public is invited to attend.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits and South Dakota Coyotes both remain ranked in the top-5 of the latest FCS Football Top-25 Polls.

The Jackrabbits maintain their grasp on the #1 spot, as they have all season, following their 41-3 win over Northern Iowa.

The Coyotes hold firm as well this week at #4 in the nation after a 59-0 victory over Murray State on Saturday.
