Yankton Gazelles Soccer had their season come to an end last night, as they were eliminated from the Class AA Playoffs by Brandon Valley 3-0.
The match was scoreless after 80 minutes at the end of regulation, with the Lynx scoring all three goals in the 20-minute overtime period.
Despite the loss to end the season, Gazelles Head Coach Tyler Schuring was proud of the way his team played and grew all season long.
Yankton ends their season with an 8-5-2 overall record. Yankton graduates six seniors, Carly Cap (Chop), Chloe Foote, Tessa Gillies (Gill-es), Chloe Blom, Eleanor Johnson, and Haley Luke.
Yankton Bucks Golf placed 11th as a team at the Class AA Boys Golf State Tournament, shooting a final round 316 to finish at 634.
Easton Vellek was the highest individual finisher for the Bucks, tying for 37th. Also for Yankton, Parker Riley tied for 41st, Kai Cody tied for 44th, Brayden Byrkeland tied for 60th, Ryker Larson tied for 72nd, and Elijah Larson tied for 75th.
Watertown claimed the team title in the event, with Ty Lenards winning an individual state title as well for the Arrows.
Yankton graduates two seniors from this year’s squad, Parker Riley and Ryker Larson.
Mount Marty Volleyball was swept last night by the #1 team in the NAIA, the Northwestern Red Raiders.
Adisyn Indahl posted a team-high 9 kills and 10 digs, while Tevan Erickson recorded 20 assists and the lone service ace for MMU in the loss.
MMU, now 12-8 on the year, is back in action on Thursday to host Dordt inside Cimpl Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
Yankton Gazelles Volleyball is home tomorrow night to take on the Brandon Valley Lynx at the Summit Activities Center.
First serve is scheduled for 7:00 PM. Pregame coverage on KYNT and KYNTV begins at 6:30. Brayden Butler will be on the call.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer return home tonight to host Hastings College at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Both Lancers squads are coming off of losses to Briar Cliff on Saturday. The Women are scheduled to play first at 5:00 PM with the Men to follow.
Yankton Competitive Cheer and Dance will be in Watertown tomorrow night for a varsity invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 5:00 PM at Watertown High School.
University of South Dakota Athletic Director Jon Schemmel (Shem-ull) will be the featured speaker at today’s Yankton Quarterback Club meeting.
Schemmel is still in his first year as the AD at USD after being appointed last December. Before coming to USD he served as the President & CEO of the Foundation & Alumni Association and Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Dakota State University.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at noon at the River Rock Event Center in Yankton. A paid meal will be served beginning at 11:15. The public is invited to attend.
