Yankton Gazelles Volleyball picked up a 3 sets to 1 Senior Night victory over Beresford last night.

Senior Middle Hitter Alivia Dimmer recorded 11 kills and a team-high four aces in the win. One of her aces was the deciding point in set 3 for the Gazelles.

Yankton is on the road this weekend for five matches over two days in the East/West Tournament. Yankton will play Rapid City Central, Rapid City Stevens, and Spearfish on Friday, and Sturgis and Douglas on Saturday.

Yankton Gazelles soccer standout Eden Wolfgram has been named a 1st-Team All-State Honoree following the 2024 season.

The Sophomore Midfielder helped lead the Gazelles to a winning season, the first for the program since winning a state title in 2019. Wolfgram finished the season with 7 goals and 6 assists.

Along with Wolfgram, Senior Defender Chloe Foote was selected as an All-State Honorable Mention. Foote was a three-year captain for Yankton and led the team in defensive blocks and aerial clearances this season.

Yankton Bucks Football enters the final week of the regular season as the #1 team in the Class 11-AA Media Polls.

Yankton remains at #1 for the 2nd straight week following their 28-7 win over Tea. Watertown moves into 2nd and Brookings jumps to 3rd while Spearfish falls to 4th. Pierre returns to the poll in 5th with Tea receiving votes.

Also in the local area, Avon remained #1 in the Class 9-B Polls, as they begin the playoffs this week. Full polls for all classes are available at the end.

Mount Marty Volleyball will be on the road in Seward, Nebraska tomorrow night for a GPAC clash with Concordia.

The Lancers enter the match at 12-11 on the year with a 4-8 record in GPAC play. Concordia defeated MMU earlier this season in Yankton, 3 sets to 1.

First serve is scheduled for 7:30 PM tomorrow night.

Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer will travel to Fremont, Nebraska tomorrow night for a GPAC doubleheader against Midland. The women are scheduled to get started first at 5:00 PM with the men to follow at 7:30.

The first-round matchups for the Nebraska High School Football Playoffs have been set, three area teams will host first-round matchups.

The Crofton Warriors are the #2 seed in Class D1 East following a 7-1 regular season record. They will host #15 Bloomfield on Thursday in round one.

The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats are the #5 seed in Class D1 East after ending the regular season 7-1. They will host #12 EMF on Thursday in round one.

The Wynot Blue Devils are the #3 team in Class D2 East, finishing the regular season at 6-2. They will host #14 Palmer in round one on Thursday.
