Avera and Mount Marty Announce Avera Nursing Advantage Program

Avera and Mount Marty have announced the creation of the Avera Nursing Advantage Program.

Mount Marty University President, Dr. Marc Long, says that the program will aim to provide an affordable pathway into nursing in the region.

Avera Sacred Heart Regional President and CEO, Doug Ekeren, says that the program will provide students with the ability to work part-time at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital or Majestic Bluffs while at Mount Marty and then will have the ability to work within the Avera Health System after earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Long says that since the program’s creation in September of 2024, thirteen Mount Marty seniors have signed up for the program.

Avera and Mount Marty held a media conference on Thursday in Sioux Falls to announce the partnership.
