Mount Marty Football fell just short of the Concordia Bulldogs on Saturday, losing 31-27 in Seward, Nebraska.
Quarterback Rugby Ryken finished the day 21 for 31 with 245 yards and 3 touchdowns, his first being a 32-yard connection with Trey Hansen.
The Lancers are back at home this week, as they host Midland on Saturday at Crane-Youngworth Field.
Mount Marty Men’s Basketball improved to 2-0 on Saturday, defeating Trinity Bible College 81-68.
Tash Lunday led the Lancers with a 28-point, 18-rebound double-double, leading the team in both categories.
Also for the Lancers, transfers Tyler Sandoval and Brandon Garcia added 14 points and 12 points respectively in their 2nd game for the team.
Mount Marty is back in action on Friday, hosting Mayville State inside Cimpl Arena.
Mount Marty Women’s Basketball is 1-0 to start the year following their 80-39 win over Faith Baptist last Friday night.
Sidney Thue posted a double-double in the win, tallying 15 points and 14 rebounds. Leah Williams led MMU in scoring with 16 points, shooting 3 for 6 from beyond the arc.
The Lancers return to the court on Friday to host Barclay College inside Cimpl Arena.
Yankton Bucks and Gazelles Cross Country finished 12th and 11th respectively in the Class AA State Competition on Saturday.
The Gazelles claimed 11th with 290 points. Rilyn Jackson was the top finisher in 33rd with a time of 20:47.11.
The Bucks took home 12th as a unit with Harrison Krajewski leading the way in 26th, finishing just outside of a medal position with a time of 16:58.86.
Yankton Competitive Dance placed third and Cheer placed 15th at the Class AA State Meet over the weekend.
Yankton scored 279.5 in Dance to take 3rd for the 2nd straight year. Taking 3rd place in both Jazz and Pom events. Cheer scored a 215.5 to take home 15th.
Mount Marty Men’s and Women’s Soccer were swept by Concordia over the weekend in their final home matches of the season.
The Lancer men fell 4-0 to the Bulldogs while the MMU women were defeated 6-0 in their match.
The Lancers end their regular season on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Doane in Crete, Nebraska.
The South Dakota State Jackrabbits defeated the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday, 20-17 in overtime.
Amar Johnson scored a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Jackrabbits, including the winning score on a 3-yard run in overtime. Quarterback Mark Gronowski tallied 163 yards passing and 54 yards rushing.
For USD, Travis Theis rushed for a team-high 78 yards and a touchdown. Defensively, Mi’Quise Grace scored for USD, scooping up a fumble caused by Dennis Shorter and returning it for a touchdown.
USD is on a bye this coming week, while SDSU will be home again to host Murray State on Saturday.
